Participation by people with lived experience & carers
Our subsidised Lived Experience delegate places are now sold out. We are delighted to welcome people with lived experience to participate at our Congress. To join the waiting list, click below.
We are encouraging people with lived experience of mental health difficulties and their carers to attend our 20th Congress, to be held in Cambridge, UK, between 8-10 September 2022.
Our congress is on the following themes:
- Population mental health
- Public mental health
- Social psychiatry
You can read more about these themes here.
What we offer
We are making a limited number of discounted tickets available to people with lived experience and carers who are involved and/or interested in research about these themes. These tickets will be available for £5 each. Now sold out. Join our waiting list below. We know it can be financially difficult to access these events, which is why we have offered a limited number of discounted places for delegates with lived experience.
These discounted tickets will allow equal and full participation in the main parts of the congress, which includes:
- Full congress access to all sessions
- Ticket for the Mental Health Question Time event
- Refreshments and lunches
- Welcome reception ticket
- Use of congress venue and breakout spaces
- Option to use our “congress detox” room, a quiet space reserved for people with lived experience or their carers
Please see our other pages, including what-to-expect and our social programme for more information about the congress.
How to apply (now sold out)
If you would like to join the waiting list for a lived experience place, please contact us at public@psychepi.org. We will check you are eligible for one of these places and add you to our waiting list. If a place becomes available, we will offer it to you.
Please note: if you are joining the conference primarily as an academic or healthcare professional (even if you identify as having lived experience), please register your attendance via our standard delegate route here. This is to ensure we can allocate discounted tickets as fairly as possible.
How we decide
The number of discounted tickets is limited. Applications will be reviewed by our Local Organising Committee, which includes people with lived experience of mental health difficulties. We will prioritise offering places to applications which we rate as most relevant to the themes of the congress. In the event of more suitable applications than places, we will offer places in the order in which they were received. We will also set up a waiting list in case extra spaces become available.
